How to deliver the perfect wedding speech

Weddings are joyous events, but that doesn't make them any better if you have to deliver a speech and are nervous or anxious about it. Anxiety and nerves could actually spoil your day and make you miss some of the wonderful occurences and speeches as you nervously wait for your turn.

Whether your task is to motivate the newly-weds, welcome them into the wonderful world of marriage, welcome/thank the guests as a family member, congratulate the newly-weds or propose a toast - you do need to prepare yourself.

Here are a few points to remember as you prepare for the wedding speech

How to deliver the perfect wedding speech Here are a few points to remember as you prepare for the wedding speech

* Focus on one or two important aspects of marriage (eg. Love for one another, the importance of communication, finances, fidelity etc.)

* Check the time allocated to your speech

* Write down the speech or better still - a few points so that you don't appear to be reading the whole time. even with points, you need to know what you'll say under each and rehearse.

* Introduce yourself and talk about the couple's relationship (eg. how far they've come and their love for each other) and their relationship with you.

* Use an ice-breaker. There's a lot of marital/couple quotations and jokes that you could use. I like the one about a couple who were not in speaking terms and the husband wrote a note to ask the wife to wake him up in the morning. The wife then wrote on the same sheet of pare: "wake up." If communication is your topic, this will be an excellent ice-breaker.

* Congratulate the couple, give them your blessings/well-wishes, and leave them with something to remember (some words of wisdom)

* Keep to the allocated time. Remember that people are hungry and want to celebrate.

Take a deep breath and relax. Hope we have shown you exactly how to deliver the perfect wedding speech.
