1. CULTIVATING THE CULTURE OF READING: HOW TO ENCOURAGE RELUCTANT READERS TO READ

=============================================

Reading is an important element of speaking. You cannot be a good speaker if you are not an avid reader. Even outside of speaking, children who love reading already have a lifetime advantage over non-readers. Reading helps them think, learn and understand facts much more easily - and that will give them a great academic head-start and a learning advantage over non-readers.

2. A CHALLENGE FOR YOU

==============================================

I challenge you to get to a bookshop today or a library and buy/rent a book on your child's favourite subject - even if the subject is non-academic in nature.

Just for a laugh... "He who lends a book is an idiot. He who returns the book is more of an idiot." Arabic Proverb

(Please do return books to the Library, it's for your own good)

3. QUOTES ABOUT READING

==============================================

"I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves.

~Anna Quindlen

----------------------

"Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot

~ Samuel Butler

-----------------------

"Books can be dangerous. The best ones should be labeled "This could change your life."

~ Helen Exley

------------------------

"Never judge a book by its movie."

~ J.W. Eagan

4. Our Vision and purpose

=============================================

Here at http://www.public-speaking-solutions.com, we believe in the power of words. We believe in the absolute necessity and importance of enhanced & effective delivery of speeches to create better understanding, empowerment and information. Talk should teach, guide, heal, empower and inspire. It should not destroy, demean, lie, gossip, cheat, swear, or destroy - that kind is cheap and useless. That is our vision and that is what we stand for.
